Getting back to normal

With the water receeding and closed roads opening things seem to be getting back to normal. There will be a lot of clean up and rebuilding taking place now. The Center Trail system was ravaged by the flood. The riding won't be good out there until a few work days and lots more dry days have passed. From what I hear all the bridges are washed away. Any place that could have water damage does and the trail is just generally a mess. The paved trails arround the city have some damage as well. The Great Western Trail has areas where the ground under the pavement was washed away and the pavement has crumbled. In some areas half the width of the trail is gone. There will be some work required there.

What a difference a week makes. Friday I was only able to ride from the golf course to the bridges, about 8 miles before I ran into this:

Not going to be riding through running water on 23mm wide tires. I had the fortune to find out on Friday that you shouldn't ride through a very thin layer of mud either. I met the pavement on my way to finding that out. With the paved trails opening back up I hope to increase the weekly mileage. I don't think the 500 miles in 5 weeks challenge is going to be met. Too many rainy and cleanup days. Hopefully I can get close though. Currently at 152 miles for the challenge. But with only a week and a half left it doesn't look good. The weather has been really good as of late so get out and ride. I know I will.
